HarlemHoneyNYC — New York, NY

IMG_3921 (1).JPG

DESCRIPTION: When Tim Maendel moved to New York City in 2017, he brought along two honeybee hives from his apiary upstate. He was amazed at the bees’ productivity and decided to share the honey and provide income for his household. Since then, HarlemHoneyNYC has added a hive in Westchester County, and now also makes beeswax candles and honeybee themed tableware products. Tim appreciates the friends this enhanced ‘hobby’ has made for him and occasionally hosts open houses where families and adults get a chance to see the hives and learn about beekeeping. All of his honey is made with no artificial ingredients or preservatives, and his beekeeping practices are biodynamic and sustainable, using no chemicals or harsh products. The honey he produces is local, small-batch, and bottled by hand. The honey varieties vary in type, color, consistency, and flavor depending on what plants the bees are pollinating!
